This new 8,400 square foot branch library was designed as an exploration of blurring the line between the "marketing" approach of a contemporary bookstore and the "book warehouse" approach of a traditional library. The patron’s experience is enhanced through engaging the senses - bold use of color and dramatic use of natural and artificial light; the touch of warm, textural finishes; the sound of water splashing over native stone; the smell of fresh coffee brewing.
Located in a developing suburban neighborhood, the facility was designed to be attractive, warm and welcoming while maintaining the solid, professional image of a library. The latest technology is incorporated, interconnecting patrons with all available media. In addition to reading/browsing areas designed for specific age groups, this new branch provides a community use room to accommodate 100 people. An entry plaza acts as an extension of the meeting room and provides a gathering place for the neighborhood.
