Even at a young age, design and construction were captivating for Dave Huotari. This deep appreciation for well-crafted buildings and well-built objects led Dave to the University of Idaho, where he earned a Bachelor of Architecture Degree in 1983. Now, Dave is a Principal at ALSC and is proud to carry on our rich legacy with talented co-workers and enthusiastic clients.
Dave has a knack for bringing people together to reach a common goal. This unique skill set allows him to do what he loves most - exciting and dynamic planning, design and construction. Dave is not only a leader in our firm but in our community and profession as well. He is involved with several community non-profits and professional organizations including AIA Northwest and Pacific Region Representative to Strategic Council, AIA National Board Government Advocacy Committee, the University of Idaho College of Art and Architecture Advisory Board, and 2nd Harvest. Dave has even designed, constructed and driven Lilac Festival parade floats for the Freeman Community!
When he isn’t leading teams, designing buildings and meeting with clients, you will find Dave working on vintage cars, spending time with his kids and grandkids, and soaking up the sun on a beach in Hawaii. He loves to travel and experience architecture up-close, especially one of his favorite interesting urban buildings - the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles by Frank Gehry.
