Jim Darcy Elementary School in Helena, Montana, was recognized as an Outstanding Childhood/Elementary School in Learning By Design Magazine.
The design of the new school focused on informal learning opportunities, community needs, and functionality. Variations of spaces invite various types of learners to find their nook for learning. The social stair flanking the commons connects the first and second levels; offering faculty, community members, and students another location to gather.
