The overarching goal for the Doris Morrison Learning Center is to become a shell for learning and appreciation of the Saltese Flats Wetland’s unique history, geology, and ecosystem. The overarching goal for the Doris Morrison Learning Center is to become a shell for learning and appreciation of the Saltese Flats Wetland’s unique history, geology, and ecosystem. 


The Doris Morrison Learning Center will include:


>  Providing the site with needed utilities infrastructure.

> Parking.

> Trail access to the wetland below.

> Exterior and interior educational and exhibit areas.


The center is intended to become a point of celebration and connection between the Saltese Flats and visitors of all ages eager to learn about the area. It will be available for single visitors as well as school classes and at times may also support community events. Spokane County hopes to create a 50+ year life cycle project that can reward the community with great experiences interacting with the outdoors and creating memories spanning generations.
